Proposals were brought out this week, which involved the wage capping plans with Division 1, 2 and 3 clubs. Basically the idea is from a committee of “The best working party” and they have proposed and received backing from most clubs to only allow clubs to spend a maximum of 60% of their takings to be spent on players wages and they hope to reduce that to 50% is subsequent seasons. The plan is to stop the spiralling wages of players and is an attempt to stop clubs going to the wall through financial difficulties. The football league is now in talks to make this effective proposal work and ensure the future of teams in the football league Norwich currently uses 31% of
the clubs income on player’s wages, which is under the 50% wage limit of the
clubs income that may be reinforced in the near future. It is easy to see how
some of the lower league clubs would welcome this proposal as with wage demands
increasing and lower income would help these clubs from going into
administration. After Daryl Russell resumed
training following his broken foot and also came on as a substitute in the
Burnley game, he got a start in the 1-1 draw in the reserves midweek. It was
good news for him because he has come back into the squad ahead of schedule as
he was originally expected to be out for 6 weeks. A full strength side was on
offer to Worthington after Phil Mulryne was back after being suspended from his
last game after receiving 5 yellow cards this season so far. Alex Notman was the
only player unavailable and he has been told that he has to have an operation
for an injury he sustained at Portman Road and it isn’t likely he will be
playing before the New Year. Craig Fleming said before the
game that he wasn’t expecting an easy game but was hoping they could bounce
back from their away defeat last week. Malky Mackay came back into the
centre of defence and Worthington had a re-shuffle with the team which saw
Kenton and Mackay in the centre of defence, Fleming moved to right back and
Nedergaard played on the Right wing. Rivers played on the left and McVeigh
joined Roberts upfront. Norwich started positively but
Derby soon came back at Norwich and the game was quite even up till half time.
The second half started and Norwich looked the better again but Derby also had
their fair amount of chances with some good saves from Robert Green. The substitutes played a big
part in the game once more when at first Ian Henderson came on and made some
trouble for Derby by doing a lot of running. Nielsen and Abbey came on and it
was all attack for Norwich but the winning goal came from Defender Mackay when
he looped a header from a corner from the back post to net City the three
points. Derby where ram raided by Norwich and the win was crucial as Nottingham
Forest won again and Leicester also won. E-Mail your views and thoughts to Reggie by clicking here
