Week 27 Another season has come
to an end and it is a long awaited summer to see what new faces will be coming
in and which old faces will be going from the team in the expectations for
reaching the premiership next season. The 2-0 win over Preston
wasn’t enough to finish ahead of rivals Ipswich as they got the result in
their last fixture against Derby, which left Norwich in 8th position
but looking back on the season it hasn’t been a bad result considering before
Nigel Worthington came we didn’t look to be a promotion chasing team which we
have proved from last season and this being our second top position in division
one since being relegated from the premiership. Before the Preston game
this season’s player of the season was announced and it was won by Adam Drury
who has well deserved the award for his great performances all the way through
the season. Robert Green was second and Paul McVeigh third. Also before the Preston
game Steen Nedergaard had decided to join his old club back in Denmark and at
the end of the game he had a tear in his eye as he got a standing applause from
the crowd and they certainly gave him a good send off. A boost to keep the
supporters thinking about the new season was the launch of the new kit and the
announcement of the new sponsors the other day. Lotus and Proton are the new
sponsors for a new season and a 7-figure sum was the price tag on a 3-year deal,
which is the biggest sponsorship deal in the clubs history, and the biggest
sponsorship deal to anyone in the first division. The new kit, which is
made by Xara again and has the Proton logo on the home shirt, which is of the
traditional yellow and green, and the away shirt has the Lotus logo on a racing
green fabric, both shirts are great again and the away shirt will be worn for a
guaranteed 7 league away games next season. Vote on our
poll and let us know what kit you prefer. The South Stand has suffered a
set back this week as when the old stand is brought down there has to be an
archaeological dig in the foundations as there may be some artifacts of
interest. There is no choice about the dig that is to take place, as it would be
the same with any other building of that age before re-development was started
and the football club also has to pay the costs. It is hoped the dig won't take
too long so the re-development of the new South Stand doesn’t get delayed at
anytime and there should still be seats made available from January, although it
is not expected for the stand to now be finished until the end of next season. It is now all eyes on Nigel Worthington to see what happens over the summer and we will see what the team will begin to shape up like for the new season. Email your thoughts and views to Reggie by clicking here |
