It took
Clint Easton time to find his best form following his summer move from Watford.
He didn't in fact make his home debut until March but he then stayed in the side
for the remainder of the season and his performances coincided with the
Canaries' march to the play-off final in Cardiff.
Clint has the ability to play either on the left side of midfield or in a more
central role. It was in that wide left position that he came good for the
Canaries though. He scored a crucial goal to help the side to a 2-1 win over
Gillingham and his delivery from set pieces ensured vital points were picked up
against Stockport and also in the play-off semi-final against Wolves.
Despite taking a while to show his full potential, Clint will surely look back
on last season with a wry smile on his face as he helped his new club to their
best season since relegation from the top flight in 1995.
In contrast his former club Watford, whose then boss Gianluca Vialli told Clint
he had no future at Vicarage Road, struggled to find any kind of form during a
disappointing season for the Hertfordshire club. Clint will again face stiff
competition for a place in the side during 2002-03 but if his form from the tail
end of last season continues he could well become one of the first names on
Nigel Worthington's teamsheet.
