The
next 12 months could well prove to one of the most important years in the career
of Chris Llewellyn. An unfortunate broken foot against Manchester City in the
Canaries' opening home game of last season sidelined the 23-year-old Welshman
for two months.
The injury was a big blow for both the player and the club as Chris had finished
2000-2001 as the second highest goal scorer with eight strikes to his name and a
great deal was expected of the Welsh international during the 2001-2002 season.
In his absence, Paul McVeigh had put in several match-winning performances on
the left-hand side of the Canary midfield and despite returning to action as a
substitute during the 2-0 win at Gillingham in mid October, Chris only started
three further games all season.
With the emergence of Clint Easton during the latter part of last season, Chris
now faces a three-way battle for a place on the left side of the City midfield
during 2002-03.
Chris will celebrate his 23rd Birthday in August and will really be looking to
be playing first team football at this vital stage of his career. All at Carrow
Road will be hoping that both form and fitness return to enable the likeable
Llewellyn to fulfill his undoubted potential.
